After reading lots of reviews and articles about how it was such a good game I decided to pick it up and give it a try. First off you can TELL that it is a budget game. The textures and some of the game mechanics are just plain terrible. Hell the ground texture looks like they ripped it out of a ps1 game. It was real off putting the first time I started the game.
What grabbed me though was the story, to say its quirky does not do it enough justice, there are some serious wtf moments. Quirky as it may be its engaging and gripping, and the characters are very flawed and interesting. Especially the character you play, Agent York. I've only played 5 hours or so (Human Revolution just came out, which is fantastic btw) but I can't tell if he is crazy or not. Monsters only attack when you are by yourself, and he talks to himself/you in the form of Zach. In a way you are not playing Agent York but Zach who seems to be partially in control of York? Like I said, serious WTF moments. But like I said before the new Deaus Ex came out and that takes precedence over Deadly Premonition, but I'll come back to it later to finish my thoughts on it.
